General Visit (6 months or less)
These are your current UK Visitor visa which are visa visit for less than 6 months. Most use this visa for tourism and not so much to visit family. You will need to show that you will return to Thailand once you visit is over. Speak to a lawyer in Thailand for more information and assistance.
Most applications are processed within 10 days.

Settlement
The settlement visas take a bit longer however they are still much shorter than if you are applying for a US visa in Thailand. All the visas in 2016 was completed within 60 days or 2 months in Thailand. Again take legal advice if your visa has been rejected.
