Consular Assistance:

What kind of help they can provide.  They will offer to help you in such a way that it is appropriate to the individual circumstances of each case, including:

 They Can:

  • Issuing replacement travel documents/passport;
  • Providing information about transferring funds;
  • Witnessing a signature;
  • Administering an oath, marking of exhibits or declaration;
  • Issuing certificate of no impediment to get married;
  • Making/verifying/certifying a copy of a document;
  • Legalising a signature or seal;
  • Providing appropriate help if you have suffered rape or serious sexual or physical assault;
  • Providing details of local lawyers, interpreters, doctors and funeral directors;
  • Doing all we properly can to contact you within 24 hours of being told;
  • Offering support and help in a range of other cases, such as child abductions;
  • Contacting family or friends for you if you want;
  • Making special arrangements in cases of terrorism, civil unrest or natural disasters;
  • Providing documentary services such as consular birth or death registration.

 

They Cannot:

  • Help you enter a country,
  • Ensure your safety and security in another country;
  • Give you legal advice or translate documents;
  • Carry out searches for missing people;
  • Investigate crimes, get you out of prison;
  • Get you better treatment in prison;
  • Pay any bills or give you money from public funds;
  • Make travel arrangements for you;
  • Get involved in private disputes over property.

    You need to follow the procedure as listed in the PDF form which can be downloaded here.

    Print out the document and obtain the birth registration in Dubai and have this translated. Take this notarized document with the printed form and hand this in at the British embassy in Dubai.
